One of my pet hates is when somebody says less when they mean fewer. If you tip over a saucer of milk, there is less milk left. But, if you break three saucers, then there are fewer saucers left.
Like many Brits silently rage whenever I see a supermarket fast queue say "10 items or less", instead of "or fewer". The good news today on the BBC website is that UK retailer has bowed to pressure and will be changing its signs from "10 items or less" to "Up to 10 items".
I suppose this introduces some ambiguity about whether 10 is included or excluded by the new words, I doubt that will worry the many miscreants I see in the aisle before me with 12, 13, or even more items in their basket!
