A few times recently I have been surprised by meeting people who were not using RSS readers. I find bloglines invaluable I do not know how I would cope without it, but I keep finding people who are not using readers.
This post by Richard Scoble tries to estimate the number of people who are using RSS readers. Scoble's estimate is about 10 million, less than 1% of all Internet users. Other estimates put it at 65 million, which would still only be about 5%.
Why are so few people using RSS readers? Is it that they are too awkward to set up? Is it that too few people know about them? Or, is it that most people have fairly modest information requirements?
Oh well, I will have to re-double my efforts in getting more people to use RSS readers - how else can they be sure to keep up-to-date with my blog!
