    Nobody pays me to write any of the copy on my blog, and should I ever have the good fortune that they do, I will declare it. My main employment is as the owner and principal of The Future Place consultancy. The Future Place provides two key services 1) training and services to industry and academic bodies and 2) consultancy services to companies. The details of the companies I work with are a private matter, but if I blog about any company who has paid The Future Place more than expenses recently (approx. two years) I will mention that they are a client. I hold equity in Virtual Surveys and provide consulting services to them from time to time. I am paid to run courses for a number of trade bodies and over the last few years clients have included ESOMAR, AMSRS, MRS, and MRIA.

What quant techniques are being used in market research?

Back in 2009 I published a short study looking at what quant techniques were in use. The sample was a convenience sample of people connected to me via social media, but the findings were nevertheless quite interesting (Download Quantitative Research June 2009).

The Future Place is about to repeat the study and we would love your suggestions for improving the range of topics covered. Please suggest techniques you think we need to cover by making a comment below or by emailing ray.poynter@thefutureplace.com.

We are aiming to circulate invites to the study 28 June and keep the survey open for about one week.

The report will be made available via The Future Place blog, via NewMR.org and will be presented by Sue York at the NewMR Advanced Quant event on 14 July.
