Nobody pays me to write any of the copy on my blog, and should I ever have the good fortune that they do, I will declare it. My main employment is as the owner and principal of The Future Place consultancy. The Future Place provides two key services 1) training and services to industry and academic bodies and 2) consultancy services to companies. The details of the companies I work with are a private matter, but if I blog about any company who has paid The Future Place more than expenses recently (approx two years) I will mention that they are a client. Colmar Brunton is a major client of The Future Place, with an exclusinve partnership in terms of the Asia-Pacific region. I hold equity in Virtual Surveys and provide consulting services to them. The industry and academic organisations for whom I have provided services in return for compensation over the last couple of years are (listed alphabetically): AMSRS, ESOMAR, MRS, and University of Georgia. Additionally I am an elected Councillor with Gedling Borough Council. I am currently a back bench member, which means I receive an annual sum of £3,500, and I am entitled to claim out-of-pocket expenses. Organisations I am a member of (listed alphabetically) inlcude: ESOMAR MRS CND Liberal Democrat Party Association of Liberal Democrat Councillors, National Trust, and Mellish Rugby Football Club.

I think there are some people doing new MR already ... online media planners. They're using data created by how people behave online (Search, analytics, web buzz etc) to understand behaviour online, and to predict it. I know this isn't exactly co-creation / collaboration territory, but it is ceding control ... and it is an entirely new form of data based on conversations and actions. There isn't the same baggage about 'asking the right questions' and there's much less focus on demographics, interestingly. Behaviour is the key.

Boundary blurring is right. One recent model has been interesting. Interacting with an agency which delivers insights ->hypotheses-> experiments -> design prototypes / solutions->feedback etc. Allow MR/Insights to impact at all levels and lead both conceptual as well as execution thinking. An IDEO avatar of MR where it takes over the business problem and enters the heart of decision making.
